What is there to do at RBNC?

There’s so much to see and experience at RBNC! For starters the Bryant Edwards Visitors Center is filled with numerous activities, such as live exhibits, a library, and our Nature Gift Shop. We have amphibians, reptiles, insects, mammals and so much more! Check out Critter Connection for more info on some of the critters here at RBNC.  Furthermore, you can take a seat in our Rotary Club Library and soak up some knowledge, or you can check out our Nature Gift Shop which is filled with nature themed and unique eco-friendly products! Furthermore, you can take a stroll through the 3 story high Ruby N. Priddy Butterfly and Nature Conservatory and observe plants and animals in different ecosystems in the Rolling Plains. From short grass prairie to bottomland forest, come check out our butterflies, native fish, a Black Chinned Humming Bird, and Bob White Quail! After that you can take a hike down our nature trail, and enjoy all of our 17 acres of bottomland forest. After working up an appetite you can have a picnic on the J. S. Bridwell Terrace, or underneath our Elizabeth Prothro Pavilion, and then take a stroll through our beautiful United Children’s Garden!

What are your hours?

Monday-Friday: 9a.m. to 5p.m.

Saturday: 10a.m. to 4p.m.

Sunday: 12p.m. to 4p.m.

Do I have to schedule a tour to visit the center?

Nope! You can come any time during business hours.

Can we bring dogs to RBNC?

Yes, as long as they are leashed and you pick up after them.

What kind of programs do you offer?

Does RBNC host birthday parties?

Sure thing! Parties at River Bend include a 3 hour rental of the pavilion. One of those hours will be spent with an experienced field guide, who will educate and entertain! Pick from one of several themes including:

Bug Hunt!      Lady Bugs! Lady Bugs!      Dino Dig!      Leaf Me!      Leaping Frogs!      Seeds, Seeds, Seeds!      Nature Detective!      Butterflies in the Conservatory!      Critter Connection!      What’s in the Pond!?

All parties are $10 a child with a minimum charge of $100 a per party. River Bend provides party favors in themed bags. Please call 2 weeks in advance to book your party! What do I do if I find an abandoned or injured animal?

If it’s a bird you can contact Wild Bird Rescue. They are located at 4611 Lake Shore Road Wichita Falls, TX 76310, and their number is (940) 691-0828. Their website is http://www.wildbirdrescueinc.org/.

Are our facilities handicaps accessible?

Yes we are, all of our trails are handicap accessible. We also have two wheel chairs on site which our customers can use.

How can I become a member of RBNC?

Simply call us at 940-767-0843, email us at info@riverbendnaturecenter.org, or drop by. We can also send you membership information through email or regular mail. For more info visit membership info.

    For the “eyes on the wild” class can a 4 year old attend or must they be in kindergarten?

      Hi Sherry!

      We are having a pre-school portion for the art camp in the morning, however its limited to 8 children so we’re doing it on a first come first served basis. Please call us at 940-767-0843 if you have anymore questions!
