River Bend Birthday Party Description

River Bend offers a unique birthday experience! Kids will get a chance to explore nature in a fun, educational, and entertaining environment.  We have several nature themes that you can choose from. If you have a specific nature theme in mind that you do not see below, just let us know! We can develop activities to match!

Bug Hunt

Each child will make a headband with antennae and an insect container. They will learn about the characteristics on an insect, and then go on a bug hunt with the Field Guide down on River Bend’s nature trail. After the hunt, children will return to the pavilion for the bug identification. If we have the Madagascar hissing cockroaches, the party guests will have a chance to hold these amazing creatures.

Ladybugs, Ladybugs

This is similar to the bug hunt, but ladybug style. This bug hibernates during the winter and is fun to find. Children view all stages of the ladybug life cycle. Children make ladybug headbands and play a ladybug game. They head down on the trail with the Field Guide, searching for ladybugs.

Leaf Me

Each child will take a walk on the wild side on River Bend’s nature trail. Along the way, children collect leaves for a leaf prints. Children make leaf books and a leaf craft.

Leaping Frogs

Children make a leaping frog craft and play a frog game. They see each stage of the frog’s life cycle. If it is the right time of year, we have live exhibits. Kids head to the pond with the Field Guide to find baby cricket frogs and other aquatic animals.

Seeds, Seeds, Seeds

Children view many different types of seeds and make a seed sorting container. They take a closer look at the inside of a seed, and see various stages of germination. Kids plant seeds in eco-pots. They go on a seed scavenger hunt with the Field Guide on the trail.

Dino Dig

Dig for dino bones, make a volcano erupt, go on a dino egg hunt, play hatch the dino eggs and much more!

Nature Detective

Children make tool bags for exploring the trail. They take a walk on the wild side on River Bend’s nature trail. Along the way they collect items, such as pine cones, leaves, seeds, bark, and berries. Then after the walk, they return to the pavilion to create a nature collage to take home.

 Butterflies

Children learn about many aspects of butterflies, such as senses, defenses, life cycle, and anatomy. We will take a tour through our brand new butterfly exhibit, Peyton’s Place, observing butterflies up close. Children make a butterfly feeder, plant a host plant, and make a caterpillar.

What’s in the Pond

We head down to the pond on River Bend’s nature trail. With nets, containers, and microscopes, we explore the world of the pond. Each child makes a fish craft and a waterscope.

Critter Connection

Each child will take a walk on the wild side of the city on River Bend’s nature trail.  Along the way, we will identify tracks and other signs of nocturnal animals.  We will then return to the pavilion to make a replica-track to take home.

We had my son and nephews birthday party this last weekend and had a great time. The kids and adults had a great time and enjoyed the presentation that was given. It was both fun and educational. We will definitely have more parties here in the future.
